Susannah Gillette was recently named to the Fairfield County Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” list

Susannah Gillette was recently named to the Fairfield County Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” list.

Gillette is a home-buyer assistance senior loan officer with The Housing Development Fund Inc. in Stamford. She was honored along with 39 other business leaders for leadership qualities, commitment to personal and professional development and accomplishments that have affected their organizations and the broader professional image of Fairfield County.

Gillette joined HDF two years ago. She has administered HDF’s SmartMove loan fund, which provides low-interest second mortgages to low- and moderate- income home buyers in Fairfield County.

She has transformed SmartMove into a major lending vehicle for affordable homeownership, increasing the pool of banks that make these funds available from five to seven and increasing the fund from $9 million to $12 million. Under her direction, the fund has helped more than 120 families buy homes in Fairfield County.

Gillette is a frequent speaker at meetings devoted to home ownership. She has addressed the Yale School of Management’s Economic Development Conference, the City of Stamford Housing Summit and the Interfaith Council of Greater Bridgeport’s Discussion on Affordable Housing Solutions to End Poverty.

Gillette holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Wesleyan University and a master’s from the Yale School of Management. She lives in the Bronx, N.Y.
