DANBURY - A seminar for families wishing to buy their first home will be held Wednesday.

Participants will be able to learn about the home-buying process and to see if they are ready to own a home, according to Deborah Mackenzie, a program manager with the Housing Development Fund of Fairfield County, one of the organizations sponsoring the seminar.

"We do credit counseling and we help people become credit-worthy," Mackenzie said.

People who attend the two-hour seminar will then set up counseling sessions with a housing counselor.

The seminar is being sponsored by the Housing Authority of Danbury, the Savings Bank of Danbury and the Housing Development Fund of Fairfield County.

"Our purpose is to serve the community and help borrowers become homeowners," said Danbury Savings Bank vice president Martin Morgando.

The Housing Development Fund has helped more than 90 people in Danbury become firsttime home owners, along with another 600 people in Stamford.

People who want to attend the seminar must make a reservation in advance; call the Savings Bank of Danbury at (203) 797-2621. Those who sign up will then be told the time and location of the seminar.
